About our Presenters:
Bridget Lai — is the Executive Director for the Academy for Healthcare Innovation where she oversees certificate training programs for allied health roles in healthcare. These programs allow students to gain the skills and credentials to advance in their current healthcare role or pursue new opportunities.
In addition to serving as AHI’s Executive Director, Ms. Lai serves as the Associate Director for Clinical Education at Hawaii Pacific Health where she oversees training and education for over 7,000 staff including over 2,000 nurses. Bridget received her Master’s Degree in Education and her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She practiced as a nurse for most of her clinical career in Obstetrics and has been awarded University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Sensational 60 Nursing Alumni award and the AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Instructor ‘Making the Difference’ Award. She has also served as a volunteer for the YMCA’s PACT program, the Hawaiian Humane Society and the American Red Cross.
Jan Boivin — is the senior vice president of human resources and organizational effectiveness at Hawai‘i Pacific Health, where she oversees the human resources, clinical education, and workforce development needs of approximately 8,000 employees at four medical centers, over 70 clinics, and other centers throughout Hawai‘i.
Prior to joining HPH, Ms. Boivin served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Board Secretary of Hawai‘i Pacific University, where she oversaw legal affairs, board governance, and human resources. Jan received a juris doctorate degree from the Georgetown University Law Center and a bachelor’s degree from Willamette University. She serves on the boards of the Hawaiʻi State Bar Foundation (where she served as past president), the American Judicature Society, YMCA of Honolulu, and Hawai‘i Dental Service. She has also served as an expert (focusing on law and affirmative action) for the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. Jan also serves as a volunteer ombudsman for the Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, where she mediates conflicts arising from service members’ military commitments.
