About The Speaker: Born and raised in Honolulu, Elia is the Director of Advocacy at the Hawaiʻi Foodbank and co-convenes Hawaii’s Natural Resources Sector Partnership with Kupu. With over 20 years in conservation and sustainability, she has led efforts locally and globally—from managing marine programs at Hawaiʻi’s Department of Land and Natural Resources to shaping policy in Washington, D.C. She’s also worked with National Geographic, the University of Hawaiʻi, and other organizations on marine and environmental research, outreach, and media.
About The Natural Resources Sector Partnership (NRSP) : The NRSP is a collaborative effort between educators and industry to change systems and better prepare and inspire Hawaiʻi’s students to meet the current and future demands of natural resources professions in Hawaiʻi. Leaders and educators in the natural resources field convene to act on priority areas: Building Career Awareness; Connecting Students to ʻĀina and Community; and Investing in College and Career Preparation, Access, and Transitions.
