The Gallery Walk: A Creative Approach to evaluation & Community Learning
A Collaborative Learning Experience
It was an honor to be a part of this year’s Hawai‘i-Pacific Evaluation Association (H-PEA) Conference - Leading The Way with Aloha, Strengthening Community Voices, where Joyce Lee-Ibarra of JLI Consulting hosted an interactive workshop on Evaluation Galleries—an engaging approach to visualizing learning, reflection, and collective insight across community-based projects. As one of three featured organizations in the Evaluation Gallery Walk workshop, we were invited to share and present the work we’re leading at HWFC, alongside our colleagues from Hawai‘i Investment Ready and Vibrant Hawai‘i. This visually engaging format encouraged attendees to explore tools, frameworks, and methodologies that strengthen evaluation and storytelling within community-driven initiatives.
HWFC’s Gallery Walk: Sharing Our Frameworks and Insights
During the session, LorMona Meredith, HWFC’s Director of Community Programs showcased highlights from our Strategic Solutions Framework, which helps connect workforce innovation to long-term systems change. The Gallery Walk offered a meaningful opportunity to:
- Illuminate Hawai‘i’s evolving workforce challenges and opportunities
- Demonstrate how collaboration and data can inform equitable solutions
- Connect local efforts to our Good Jobs in Hawai‘i Framework and the 2045 Generational Workforce Commitment
Through this participatory format, we saw how artful design, dialogue, and shared learning can bring evaluation to life—turning frameworks into stories and strategies into community action.
Mahalo to Our Partners
A heartfelt mahalo nui to Joyce Lee-Ibarra for the invitation to co-create this session and for championing creative evaluation approaches, and to our funder partners at The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation for their continued support in advancing community learning across Hawai‘i.
